Hinge covers for the Triumph Stag Owners Club

A recent in-house manufacturing project has successfully delivered a pair of precision-engineered hinge covers -left and right- for the soft top mechanism of the iconic Triumph Stag. The components were produced specifically for members of the Triumph Stag Owners Club, supporting the preservation of one of Britain’s most beloved classic cars.

The project focused on recreating two mirror-polished hinge covers that sit on either side of the convertible roof assembly. These parts, often subject to wear or damage over time, are increasingly difficult to source as original stock becomes scarce.

Using a combination of reverse engineering and modern manufacturing techniques, the team developed accurate replacements that match the original specifications while improving durability. Each cover was carefully designed to ensure a precise fit with the existing soft top frame, maintaining both functionality and the authentic appearance valued by enthusiasts.

“Our goal was to respect the heritage of the vehicle while applying modern production standards,” said the project lead. “These cars deserve components that not only look right but also stand up to continued use.”

The hinge covers were manufactured in matched pairs -left and right- to ensure consistency in fit and finish. Special attention was given to surface quality and alignment, as the parts are visible when the soft top is in use.

Collaboration with the Triumph Stag Owners Club played a key role in the project’s success. Feedback from club members helped guide design refinements, ensuring the final components met the expectations of experienced owners and restorers.

This project highlights the growing role of specialist manufacturing in supporting classic vehicle ownership. As original components become harder to find, bespoke production initiatives like this one are helping to keep vintage cars such as the Triumph Stag on the road for years to come.
